This year’s theme is “The Africa we want – addressing the past to build a healthy and properous future! ” The success and realization of Agenda 2063 starts by taking stock of where we are coming from, where we are now and the future. Which arouses curiosity and anxiety to the overarching aspirations for this years International Afrika Festival Tübingen’s 10th anniverssary and its GaiExpo Conferences: What has been achieved from 2010 – 2020 since its operations in Tübingen? The challenges and setbacks encountered during our 10yrs in Tübingen have  help us get a bigger picture of Africa´s challenges and advantages in achieving a stable and sustainable Africa. We are in 2020, and the biggest question arising from Agenda 2063 “The Africa we want” is the promise to silence the guns on the continent in 2020. Have we achieved that? If not why, what is the way forward? How can we harness our capabilities and resources to make Agenda 2063 a reality? This is 2020 and it seems the guns are rather increasing. We must be fully aware of the constraints and economic damages caused due to absence of peace, while the infrastructure gap widens, underdeveloped capital markets increasing, misallocation of resources arises, access to electricity, sustainable energy production, food insecurity environmental degradation and the poverty index keep sky rocking – The peace conference is an opendoor and a most achieve pre-requisite to achieving Agendas 2030 / 63 respectively.
Irrespective of these challenges, we most not relent on the efforts to seize from the numerous advantages and opportunities we have at hand- rapidly growing young population, economic integration fostered by free trade agreements, increasing popularity of skills and craft industries, digital technology in our urban and rural communities and engagement of the Diaspora. The International Afrika Festival Tübingen, Germany is the biggest platform in Baden-Württemberg, southern region of the Federal Republic of Germany bringing together over 20.000 people from across the African continent and diaspora: students, professionals, officials, executives, civil society experts, thought leaders, traders and young creative minds, women in particular. This year, the Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary being in Tübingen. If we can steer this sinking ship against the many dangerous rocks its been through, I am very confident that Africans and its partners can work together to make Agenda 2063 a reality.  I hereby, cordially invite you to join us take stock of what we can do together to achieve Agenda 2063 – The Africa we want – Africa the cradle of humanity – Not white, not Black but Colored.
Kindly take off a minute and reflect about our current challenges and opportunities as you prepare to attend GaiExpo conferences. What contributions can each and everyone of us make to push this vision, the vision for a better world, how can you – the diaspora, partners, stakeholders.. be motivated to engage and contribute?
To help stimulate the dialogues, we are curating a set of panels and discussions with prominent keynote speakers amongst others Dr. Arikana Chihombori, Prof. PLO Lumumba amongst others, encompassing the essential challenges and opportunities within our various industries. We hope each panel session will inspire and provide you with ideas on the direct role you can play in shaping our common future of togetherness. We believe that the Festival Conferences will leave you with meaningful insights, takeaways, and connections that will spur you to actualize your vision for the Africa we want. Remember untill Africa is at peace, we the world owe it a responsibility and duty to support build Africa for a better world.
We look forward to having you in Tübingen, Germany July – August, 2020!

Kind Regards,  Susan Tatah
